Co-Creating MHPSS Knowledge and Practice
Personal reflection from Mukasa Moses Wasige
Achieving equitable collaboration in MHPSS involves shifting from superficial engagement to genuine, reflective partnerships. MHPSS expert Mukasa Moses Wasige discusses the importance of integrating diverse global perspectives and highlights how co-creation, humility and respect can shape the field's future.
Collaborative Learning Rooted in Humility
For Moses, knowledge is everywhere, but its impact depends on co-creation. Collaboration should be based on equality, humility, and respect. Drawing on experiences from Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, and Rwanda, he emphasises decolonising research and practice, and facilitates pathways that prioritise the perspectives of all learners to make MHPSS inclusive and locally relevant.
Building More Inclusive MHPSS Collaboration Together
His reflections were part of the ARQ symposium “Towards Equitable Collaboration in Global Mental Health,” where participants from the Global South and North explored ways to build fairer, more inclusive partnerships in MHPSS and global mental health.
