About our Centres of Expertise
Developing, disseminating and applying knowledge
ARQ conducts research on disturbing events and psychotrauma and brings this knowledge together in its various centres of expertise. Each centre focuses on a specific knowledge area relating to psychotrauma and ensures the development, dissemination, sharing, and application of that knowledge, with the common goal of preventing the negative consequences of trauma.

The ARQ centres of expertise are subdivided on the basis of the following themes:
ARQ Centre of Expertise for the Impact of Disasters and Crises
ARQ Centre of Expertise for the Impact of Disasters and Crises optimises psychosocial support and care after disasters and crises. Examples are the flight MH17 disaster, but also the impact of the COVID-19 crisis. To this end, the centre develops and shares knowledge, advises and supports professionals, and develops low-threshold psychosocial support.
ARQ Centre of Expertise for War, Persecution and Violence
ARQ Centre of Expertise for War, Persecution and Violence supports victims of World War II and those affected by war and violence (including veterans) with practical policy research, knowledge dissemination and networking.
ARQ Centre of Expertise for Traumatic Grief
Centre of Expertise for Traumatic Grief provides information on grief, conducts scientific research, and disseminates knowledge on psychosocial support after loss. Carer providers, researchers and help-seekers can contact ARQ Knowledge Centre Traumatic Grief for more information on traumatic grief.
ARQ Centre of Expertise for Migration
ARQ Centre of Expertise for Migration aims to provide optimal psychosocial support to refugees, (former) asylum seekers and migrants. The centre pools and disseminates knowledge and expertise. This supports the existing safety net of reception, guidance, and care for refugees, (former) asylum seekers and migrants.
ARQ Centre of Expertise for Child, Family and Psychotrauma
ARQ Centre of Expertise for Child, Family and Psychotrauma works to improve the diagnosis and treatment for children aged 0-23 and their families. The centre of expertise seeks to gain a better understanding of the changes they face. This is done in collaboration with partners, with the joint aim of providing the best possible psychosocial support.
