Intervention Journal
Bridging practice and research
Intervention, the Journal of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Conflict Affected Areas is a peer reviewed scientific journal, providing a forum for professionals working in conflict affected areas and in the aftermath of natural disasters, and for those working with refugees from these regions.
Sharing knowledge and experience
Intervention’s mission is to strengthen mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) practice by documenting work in the field and exchanging knowledge between practitioners, researchers and policy makers. The journal provides a platform for professionals to exchange research with practical implementations and field based evaluations and a space for practitioners to reflect on their work and share their experiences.
Open access platform for MHPSS professionals
Articles in Intervention journal specifically focus on mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) in settings with limited formal resources, chronic adversity, and complex humanitarian emergencies. The articles are relevant for those working in areas affected by conflict, natural disasters and diseases and for people working with refugees from these areas around the world. The journal aspires to be a platform for active exchange and collaboration between:
- MHPSS practitioners
- Humanitarians
- Researchers
- Mental health care professionals
- Policy makers
Themes highlighted in special sections
Intervention also zooms in on themes closely related to mental health and psychosocial support. In cooperation with (I)NGOs and academic organisations, Intervention develops and publishes special sections on specific themes. Examples of these themes include:
- Climate crisis and MHPSS
- Suicide prevention and response
- Problem Management Plus, a scalable intervention
- Rohingya Refugees
