20th anniversary of Intervention Journal
Celebrating two decades of sharing knowledge and experience
In 2023, Intervention celebrates 20 years of accessible knowledge gathered from and across the field of mental health and psychosocial support in conflict affected settings.
The first edition of Intervention – then known as ‘The International Journal of Mental Health, Psychosocial Work and Counselling in Areas of Armed Conflict' - was launched in January 2003 in Sri Lanka. Right from the start, the heart of the journal was about making knowledge about mental health and psychosocial wellbeing available to those working in areas impacted by armed conflict and indeed with refugees displaced by armed conflict. Twenty years on, the journal still keeps this objective central to its purpose.
We celebrated this important milestone together with our former and current editors in chief and our community. We reflected on influential publications and discussed with practitioners and early career researchers on the importance of open and inclusive knowledge. The event was recorded and made accessible for everyone who was not able to join.
