Empowering and Engaging Diverse Voices

Personal reflection from Iryna Frankova

Equitable collaboration in MHPSS requires rethinking how projects are designed and implemented. ARQ psychologist and researcher Iryna Frankova reflects on engaging diverse voices and co-creating with people with lived experience, highlighting the potential for more inclusive, impactful approaches across global mental health initiatives.

Co-Creating with Lived Experience

Iryna observes that equitable collaboration is multi-layered, bringing together diverse voices while creating space for meaningful dialogue. In her work with interventions for vulnerable adolescents, people with lived experience are involved as project leaders from the start, helping shape projects and decisions and thereby enhancing the impact of the work.

Building More Inclusive MHPSS Collaboration Together

Her reflections were part of the ARQ symposium “Towards Equitable Collaboration in Global Mental Health,” where participants from the Global South and North explored ways to build fairer, more inclusive partnerships in MHPSS and global mental health.
